The research explores strengths for strategic management, seeks to establish the relationship of corporate governance and profitability in a credit union in the city of Cartavio. The regulation of the governing bodies in a cooperative is considered vital, as it allows to maintain independence in senior management decisions. For an adequate investigation, a descriptive methodology was used or, through the application of surveys to the main officials and decision-makers, for this, the data were collected through the application of a virtual questionnaire. Research has acknowledged establishing that the lack of corporate governance affects the management and strategic decisions of senior management in a cooperative. Today it is recognized as the main crisis facing organizations; as it is presented in the public sector evidenced in high levels of corruption from high officials to lower levels (Peruvian presidents committed to legal issues) and private sector of different sectors evidenced in collection of favors (construction club, bankruptcy of cooperatives, vaccine gates, among others). Likewise, the absence of good corporate governance not only affects the future of management due to the biased provisions adopted, these also affect profitability at the financial level by superimposing the leading role of managers on senior management responsible for the management of the cooperative. In this sense, knowing how corporate governance is linked to business development allows strengthening the separation of functions of managers with senior management, therefore, accepting the hypothesis thatcorporate governance is effectively and significantly related to profitability is a challenge for research allowing to establish the exposure to economic losses caused in the management of the business.
