Objective: To determine the prevalence of anemia and the associated factors in children under 3 years of Ayabaca - Piura 2019. Methodology: Analytical, correlational, prospective cross-sectional observational study. The population constituted by those of children under 3 years old and their mothers served in the micro network of Ayabaca - Piura. Being a total of 226 children, the sample consisted of 136 children, calculated with the formula of expected proportions with Epi Info, with a 95% confidence index and a margin of error of 5%, A survey was applied to the mothers of children under 3 years old, the same one that was validated. Results: The prevalence of anemia was 62.5% of children under 3 years. The associated factors presented by children with anemia are: Economic income less than 850 soles (p <0.01); lack of basic services such as electricity and drainage (p <0.01); Marital status of the mother, single (p <0.01); anemia and urinary infections during pregnancy (p <0.01); insufficient consumption of ironrich foods of vegetable and animal origin (p <0.01); intestinal parasitosis (p <0.01); as well as contracting respiratory diseases and acute diarrheal disease in the last 2 weeks (p <0.01). Anemia during pregnancy increased the prevalence rate of anemia in children under 3 years by 2.39 times. (p <0.01, RPa 2.39 CI = 1.92-2.98), urinary infections during pregnancy were 4.5 times. (p = 0.02, RPa 4.5 IC = 1.09-5.85). Complementary non-feeding after 6 months increased it by 1.78 times (p <0.01, RPa 1.78 CI = 1.5 - 2.05), intestinal parasitosis did it at 1.32 times, acute diarrheal disease increased it by 1.26 times and respiratory disease in 1.69 times. Conclusion: The prevalence of anemia was 62.5% of children under 3 years. It was found as factors associated with the risk of children under 3 years suffering from anemia: economic income less than 850 soles per month, lack of basic services such as electricity and drainage, marital status of the mother, single, anemia and urinary infections during pregnancy, insufficient consumption of iron-rich foods of vegetable and animal origin, intestinal parasitosis, and that in the last two weeks has presented respiratory disease and acute diarrheal disease.
