This study aimed to characterize the studs of three alpaca production systems in the central highlands: community enterprises and cooperatives (CEC), communal farms (CF) and livestock association (LA). The study was conducted in the period 2006 to 2008 and included the static diagnosis of 28 alpaca herds; evaluation of 30 community studs and estimation of the production parameters of breeder central nucleus composed of the best alpacas of 22 livestock units. The results were: a) Static Diagnosis, Community enterprises and cooperatives, exhibited better indicators that other production systems, fiber management and production (CEC 5.2, DF 4.9 & LA 5.0 Lbs/alpaca), access to improved livestock facilities (CEC 100, CF 30 & LA 10%), grassland area dedicated for alpacas breeding (CEC 3225, df 1024 & LA 195 has), access to market (CEC national, CF & LA local) and registered animals (CEC 10.5, DF 0.9 & LA 0%). B) Evaluation of Suds. Community enterprises and cooperatives showed better indicators than production systems, proportion of dams Super class (CED 23, CF 5 & LA o%) and sires Super (CEC 86, CF 52 % LA 0%) and sires Super (CEC 86, CF 52 & LA 0%), conformation of the animal (CEC good, CF y LA regular), fleece fineness ( CEC fine, CF & LA medium to coarse), access to livestock facilities (CEC 100, CF 15 & LA 0%), cultivated grass (CEC 100, CF & la 0%) and grassland condition (CEC & CF fair, LA poor). c) Production Parameter of Palcan`s Alpaca Multicomunal Nucleus. Alpacas from community enterprises and cooperatives answer better than other production systems, proportion of dams alpacas Super class (CEC 13, CF & LA 2%), live weight to shearing (CEC 59.3, cf 58.9 & la 53.1 Kgs), dirty fleee (CEC 2.4, CF 2.2 & LA 2.4 Kgs), fiber diameter (CEC 24.87, CF 24.85 % LA 24.70 ums) and wick length (CEC 8.9, CF 6.9 & LA 7.0 cms).
