There are small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) dedicated to executing electrical installation projects under the subcontracting modality whose nature and degree of current evolution is characterized by limited technical and human resources that restrict them in the management of projects based on high performance work systems. The cost of implementation and maintenance of these systems is high and not easily accessible to SMEs. Currently, globalization has forced large General Contractors to assume new strategies focused on compliance with contractual terms agreed with their clients or promoters and on the functionality of the developed products. These strategies are characterized by specific actions, in the case of the management of subcontractors, they include, for example, practices that allow them to transfer the responsibility and inherent risks of the project to these. Faced with this reality, there is a need to develop a research with the purpose of identifying a risk management model at the SMEs scale that will allow them to increase the probability of success in the execution of electrical installations projects in shopping centers and comply with the client's requirements; ensuring achieving these objectives through proper risk management. The research developed has identified a basic framework for risk management in SMEs, based on the results of the instruments applied (surveys, interviews), experiences of local companies specialized in this area, and research conducted in Peru as in other regions; finally, a risk management model is proposed that, in addition to helping to meet the first objective described, helps achieve the second objective proposed in the research, which was to ensure the achievement of the objectives of the subcontractors involved in projects. of Infrastructure.
