obtenidas tenían dimensiones: longitud 130 mm, ancho 10 mm y espesor 10 mm y
Note: In this paper, the influence of behavior polyester matrix hybrid composite reinforced with
glass fiber/cabuya at different weight percentages on the impact strength after exposing
the specimens to different curing temperatures (25, 45 and 65 °C) was evaluted. Cabuya
fibers wre mercerized with 1.5%P/V NAOH before the shaping of composites. The fiber
glass content was constant throughout the process with 6.7% by weigth.
The weight amounts of continuos unidirectional cabuya fiber were 5, 10 and 15%, all
hhybrid composites were obtained by manual molding, the obtained specimens had by
dimensions: length 130mm, width 10mm and thickness 10 mm and tested to impact under
ASTM D 6110.
The result determined that highest values of impact strength were obtained in hybrid
composites reinforced with cabuya fiber at 15% by weigth. As the hybrid composites
cured at room temperature gave the highest average impact stength of 68.60 KJ/m2, which
represents a 56.28% increase over the average impact strength of the polyester composite
reinforce with fiber glass (29.99 KJ/m2).
The resuts confirmed by analysis variance for a 95% confidence level, conclude that the
weight percent of cabuya a fiber and curing temperature significantly influence on the
impact strength of the polyester matrix hybrid coposites.
