INTRODUCTION: upon reaching the stage of older adulthood, changes are seen in the common way we walk, leading us to think about the reasons for these situations. OBJECTIVE: to determine the factors associated with gait disorder in older adults at the ESSALUD senior center. METHOD: an analytical, prospective, non-experimental correlational study was carried out, where a sample of 110 patients was demonstrated. RESULTS: in our study it was found that age, alcohol consumption, degree of immobility, comorbidities and polypharmacy are risk factors for presenting alterations in the speed and coordination of walking, in addition it was seen that physical activity. and good nutrition improve the speed and coordination of walking and generate greater autonomy in older adults. CONCLUSIONS: It is recommended that from the age of 60, older adults begin a physical activity regimen appropriate to their abilities, in addition to having periodic check-ups to control the drugs they consume and follow diets appropriate for their age.
