The purpose of the following study is to determine the in vitro antibacterial effect of the alcoholic extract of Caesalpinia spinosa (Tara), against Enterococcus faecalis and Staphylococcus aureus, obtained from root canals with pulpal necrosis. The Caesalpinia spinosa (Tara), is a plant, these have an immense medical, nutritional and industrial potential, being very useful for the production of tannins, this component is responsible for the antibacterial effect. In our study we used: alcoholic extract of Caesalpinia spinosa in concentrations of 60%, 80% and 100%. Strains obtained from root canals with pulp necrosis of Enterococcus faecalis grown on the agar Bilis esculin azide and Staphylococcus aureus grown on Mannitol - common salt - phenol red agar, as well as BHI broths with 6.5% and 10% sodium chloride respectively. The development of this research was developed Under sterile conditions we proceeded to the inoculation of 50 uL of the strain to each plate, then it was seeded with the drigalsky spatula on Mueller Hinton agar (90 Petri dishes for Staphylococcus aureus and 12 Petri dishes for Enterococcus faecalis ) for microbial sensitivity tests. With sterile forceps, 5 sterile paper discs were placed in each plate. The different concentrations of the Caesalpinia spinosa alcoholic extract were extracted with a micropipette of 100 uL, the amount of 10 uL of each ependorff tube imbibed paper discs, this was also done with 5.25% sodium hypochlorite as a positive control and as a control negative sterile distilled water. The plates were brought to the incubator at 37 ° C for a period of 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours. The measurements of the inhibition zones were read at 24, 48 and 72 hours with the help of a scaler. The alcoholic extract of Caesalpinia spinosa against 60% Staphylococcus aureus has an antibacterial effect in vitro at 24 hours, decreasing the antibacterial effect at 48 hours and at 72 hours it no longer has an antibacterial effect. At 80% and 100%, it has an antibacterial effect in vitro at 24 hours, decreasing the antibacterial effect at 48 hours and at 72 hours. While the alcoholic extract of Caesalpinia spinosa against Enterococcus faecalis did not present an antibacterial effect.
