The purpose of this research is to analyze the qualities of digital citizenship in relation to the participation of young candidates for the Youth Secretariat in the internal elections of the Traditional Political Party of Peru, held in Metropolitan Lima in 2021. To this end, seeks to identify the digital skills necessary to improve the work carried out by these candidates. In this case, a phenomenological, exploratory and qualitative study was used, carrying out an interview with 10 participants and a focus group applied to 8 more participants. The findings indicated that the online political involvement of young candidates in these elections has been an enriching experience, since they have made optimal use of the various technological tools at their disposal. Despite the challenges, the Popular Action Party's interest in digital political participation is evident. Young people recognize the benefits that technology offers them for digital citizenship and political participation. Such advantages include ease of access to information, online interaction and the dissemination of political ideas nationally and internationally. However, they are aware of the inherent limitations and risks, such as the lack of human contact, the proliferation of false information, as well as communication and relational failures. In summary, digital citizenship is constantly evolving due to digital tools, which is why a professionalized approach is required to maximize its advantages and minimize its challenges.
