This research work is carried out in a company in the interprovincial passenger transport sector in Peru and due to the stops caused by unscheduled correctives and breakdowns on routes that cause transfers and customer dissatisfaction, directly impacting the availability of the fleet of 88.8%, in addition the buses lose days to execute services and sales. It is analyzed and determined that the implementation of RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) can increase the availability and reliability of the bus fleet. The RCM made it possible to find critical failure modes and implement specific maintenance activities with a frequency of intervention according to the kilometers traveled by calculating the MKBF (average kilometer between failures) to take action before they occur. The results after 10 months of having implemented the RCM show an availability of 91.1%, an increase of 2.3%, in addition to an increase in reliability from 86.6% to 91.7% every 50,000 kilometers of bus travel, also an increase in surveys customer satisfaction, increase in the average distance between failures indicator and reduction in downtime hours due to unscheduled corrective maintenance, generating economic savings of S/. 2.2 million in the reduction of unscheduled correctives.
