This study was conducted in order to determine to what extent the use of Short Films as a teaching strategy improves the communicative competence of students in the course Audiovisual Narrative IV-cycle of Communication Sciences of the UPAO 2014. The population consisted of 43 students of IV-cycle of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego 2014; which it was considered as shown in full, distributed in experimental groups (23) and control (20), respectively; which they have the same context and characteristics similar. The research was applied and a quasiexperimental design with nonequivalent groups pretest and posttest.Using Short consisted of 10 sessions of teaching and learning. Before application, the students investigated reached the poor level; and in some cases sufficient. After applying the use of Short Films as a teaching strategy significantly improves the communicative competence of Audiovisual Narrative course, on the students investigated; as well, confirmed the ""t"" test; (T ; 12.20> 1.68). It was 65%, poor level before; and then 45%, achieving optimum levels; while the average on the scale (0-20) reached 9.58 before and after 15.48, a difference of 6.34, also in its dimensions theoretical domain, narrative and audiovisual production process, they achieved sufficient and optimal level .
