The present thesis title “DISEÑO ESTRUCTURAL DEL PAVIMENTO DE LA CALLE RICARDO PALMA DEL SECTOR HUANCHAQUITO, EN SUS ALTERNATIVAS DE PAVIMENTO RÍGIDO O ARTICULADO- DISTRITO DE HUANCHACO- TRUJILLO, LA LIBERTAD” consists of making known the physical and mechanical characteristics of the soil in said sector, with the aim of defining the type of pavement, in which its parameters meet the requirements under the aforementioned standards. For the development of the thesis, we carried out pits strategically locating the exploratory points so that they encompassed the entire study area, the stratigraphic profiles of each explored point were determined together with the extraction of the required samples, some field tests were carried out, as well like lab tests. As a result of these investigations, it was found that the predominant material is poorly graded sand, at the excavated depth, no water table was found, we are faced with a soil that does not work, whose subgrade does not have good characteristics to support the structure. Based on the information collected, it is proposed to make a design between the rigid or articulated pavement, since the flexible pavement has a shorter service life, in addition this pavement system is more prone to being damaged by the humidity existing in the area. making it consolidate more due to the effect of the loads producing the common deformations. With our project we seek to solve the deficit of road infrastructure in the Huanchaquito sector, at the same time serving as a source of study for future research to improve the quality of life in the sector.
