The COVID-19 pandemic has had а psycho social impact on the general populace; home isolation was one of the public health measures used to contain the pandemic, but it had negative effects on mental health. With this research work, we sought to outline the identification and management of anxiety and depressive disorders in insured patients assigned to the Essalud III Iquitos hospital in the years 2020 and 2021. We used a sample of 685 patients (2020) and 898 patients (2021), adults of both sexes. The results showed that in 2021, there was a 95% increase in the number of cases in the number of diagnoses for specific anxiety disorder (F41.8), generalized anxiety disorder (F41.1) and mixed anxiety and depression disorder (F41.2). Symptoms related to anxiety and depression were higher in women in the age group 40 to 60 years. There was an increase in the consumption of medications during the 2021 period of benzamides, benzodiazepine derivatives and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. The mandatory isolation of the population produced a high incidence of anxiety and depression symptoms, so public policies related to mental health should be implemented.
