The following research addresses a relevant issue in our society. The increase in cases of partner violence against women has been on the rise, given that one of the causes is the benevolent sexist attitudes that men have and that in turn are perceived and normalized by other men. Likewise, this study aims to determine the perception of benevolent sexism in young people in cases of intimate partner violence against women. A qualitative study was developed and the thematic analysis design was adopted with the participation of 11 young men, whose ages range from 21 to 25 years old and who are in a relationship. A semi-structured interview was applied. The main results show that the power and dominance perceived by men is one of the causes of intimate partner violence against women, which occurs through benevolent sexism. This on several occasions can be seen in the care towards women, the stereotypes that differentiate men from women and in the same way, being women seen as an object and a source of reproduction. It is concluded that benevolent sexism can explain the maintenance and justification of violence against women and that participants perceive benevolent sexism from their own experiences and from other men as well.
