This work aims to perform the optimization and continuous improvement of the processes of the "Superintendencia Nacional de Control de Servicios de Seguridad, Armas, Municiones y Explosivos de Uso Civil - SUCAMEC", which is responsible for "controlling, managing, supervising, overseeing, regulating and sanctioning activities in the field of private security services, manufacture and trade of weapons, ammunition and related items, explosives and pyrotechnic products for civil use". Currently, the processes for obtaining the license, ownership document and granting of the firearm for civilian use have activities that are carried out manually and sometimes repeatedly, due to the fact that they are not defined or documented, generating inconsistency of information in the processing, deficiency and a low performance in productivity. The proposed solution that is presented is intended to optimize and improve the processes, using Business Process Management (BPM) techniques and best practices. By analyzing the current situation of the processes, improvement points are identified so that they are aligned or oriented to the fulfillment of the organization's objectives. Finally, as part of Project Management, it is mentioned that the Guide PMBOK® knowledge areas are used to fulfill and elaborate a formal work such as the Scope Management Plan, Schedule, Resources, Risk, Communications, Interested Parties and Costs.
