The present work consisted of carrying out the agronomic, hydraulic, automation design and economic evaluation of a drip irrigation system, for the cultivation of cocoa in the “Cantagallo” farm - San Martin, Perú. Located at the following coordinates, South latitude of 8 ° 18'51.41 "S and West longitude 76 ° 26'10.40" Or at a height of 486 meters above sea level. The extension on which the present work will be carried out corresponds to 13.5 hectares of a 6-year-old CCN-51 foreign cocoa plantation. Due to the rainfall regime, the crop's irrigation needs are seasonal, with the June to September range being the critical period in which a 3.5 mm evapotranspiration is recorded. 8 irrigation shifts were established, with two lateral lines for each row of plants, with 4 drippers per plant. The hydraulic network is comprised of primary, secondary and tertiary C-10 Polyethylene pipes (class 10), which will feed the lateral laying in the cocoa fields. For this purpose, 75 mm, 63 mm and 48 mm pipes will be used. For this network, the operating speeds do not exceed 2 m / sec. The pumping station has a total dynamic height (ADT) of 45.12, an operating flow per shift of 6.38L / Sec, for which a power of 7.5HP is dimensioned. The filtering system consists of a battery of 2 ring filters with back-in-line washing with two hydrocyclones. The capacity of the filtering system is 13.8 L / sec. The automation of this system is open loop, for which it uses 2 ” solenoid valves, which are interconnected by a wiring network (signal and common cables). They are controlled by an irrigation programmer that allows the activation of the solenoid valves and the pumping station. Likewise, the system has a rain sensor which will turn off the system in case of precipitation. The total cost for the implementation of this automated drip irrigation system; involving the supply of equipment, civil infrastructure, unskilled labor, skilled labor, supervision, general expenses and utilities, it is an amount of s / 236 092.57 soles including taxes. The economic profitability of the project was determined through the following financial ratios: VAN, TIR, RBC and PRI, corresponding to s / 236’440.83 soles, 32.09%, 1.53 and third year respectively. Being economically acceptable and positive.
