The objective of this study was to compare the effective use of learning strategies between stomatology students of two universities in Iquitos, 2020. The study type was comparative with field study, transectional contemporary, and univariable designs. The study population and sample was made up by 382 students. 212 students from the National University of the Peruvian Amazon (UNAP) and 170 students from The Peruvian Scientific University (UCP). The data gathering tool was a valid and reliable questionnaire with Likert scale. Results show that most Faculty of Odontology students at UNAP (68.4%) used learning strategies fairly adequately, whilst Stomatology students at UCP (59.4%), used the strategies inadequately. UNAP students mean scores were higher (57.4936 > 39.7226) as well as in all dimensions: Motivational strategies (56.2264 > 43.8824), affective component (55.0708 > 43.7316), metacognitive strategies (58.0778 > 35.6985), strategies of context control, social interaction and use of resources (59.2253 > 42.3303), strategies searching and selecting information (63.7824 > 39.3382), and strategies of information processing and use (56.1932 >36.1111). The study concluded that there is significant difference between the two population groups in using learning strategies as p-value = 0.000 < ? = 0.05, accepting the research hypothesis.
