The aim of the present research is to identify the relationship between the activity of metacognition and study habits in students of the III cycle of the Professional School of Human Medicine of the Andean University of Cusco, 2016. The study is descriptive with a correlational design that allowed to measure the level of relationship between the activities of metacognition and study habits in 49 students. The technique used was the questionnaire survey and instruments that were validated; reliability was verified with Cronbach's Alpha. The data were collected transversely and processed statistically. The results found evidence that metacognition activities in the learning process are within the median category, with 51%, and 36.8%, low, which affects study habits of students where 46.9% have a tendency positive and 34.7%, a negative trend. At 95% confidence it is concluded that there is a relationship between metacognition and study habits in students of the III cycle of the Professional School of Human Medicine.
