The objective of the research was to determine the effectiveness of information, education and communication materials in the identification of signs and symptoms of pregnancy alarm in pregnant women of Cusco - 2018. A descriptive, exploratory studyof quantitative methodology was carried out. non-experimental cross-sectional and prospective type. The sample consisted of 103 pregnant women belonging to the health center of Belenpampa, San Jerónimo and Oropesa, which met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. In the technique, randomized surveys were carried out in the selected health centers through a data collection form. The results found were: 84.40% were in an age group of 18-34 years, 56.70% had secondary education, 50% dominated the Spanish language and 48% dominated both languages (Quechua and Spanish), in obstetric data the 36.9% say they are pregnant for the first time, 62.1% have 5 more prenatal controls; Regarding the Characteristics of the information, education, comunication material (image, text and material), it obtained the qualification of “regular“ to “good“ highlighting the deficiency of the information provided; in identifying signs and symptoms of the alarm that were found to fail to identify fetal seizures and fetal convulsions, uterine contractions before 37 weeks, visual and auditory disturbances, burning during urination. In conclusion, the effectiveness of the information, education, comunication material on the signs and symptoms of alarm in the identification of signs and symptoms of alarm does not fully meet its objective, since it was able to identify and correctly describe the 13 signs and symptoms only 9, being only 69.2%, there is a deficiency in the content, the images do not represent the information, generates confusion, the words are not adapted for the population, the presentation is apparently attractive but the information provided is not necessary or adequate.
