The present study aimed to determine if there is a significant difference between levels of self-control in adolescents between 11 and 18 years old institutionalized and noninstitutionalized, Urubamba-Cusco, 2017. The research was descriptive-comparative, under a non-experimental design transectional. To determine the sample, random probabilistic sampling was used, which consisted of 50 institutionalized adolescents and 58 non-institutionalized adolescents. For data collection, the Child and Adolescent SelfControl Questionnaire of Capafóns y Silva (2001) was used. The analysis of the results was done through the statistical package SPSS 20, using Student's t-test, with a confidence level of 95%. From the results, it was determined that there is no significant difference between the levels of self-control in institutionalized and non-institutionalized adolescents under study; being that the majority had low levels.
