This research work seeks to implement the Guide to the PMBOK® 6th edition standard, to improve the planning of the project in the execution of the preliminary works of the Chancay Multipurpose Port Terminal project that aims to build a camp by which the company Cosco Shipping Ports Chancay Perú SA has contracted the company China Railway N ° 10 Enginnering Group CO, TLD for the execution of the project. The general objectives of this research work is to evaluate the results of the application of the PMBOK® 6th edition guide along with its areas of knowledge for project management according to the PMBOK guide, for the project of construction of the multipurpose port terminal camp in chancay, owned by Cosco Shipping Ports Chancay Perú SA.Where the study population is all the work packages that are involved in the construction of the camp for the Chancay Multipurpose Port Terminal project. The sample for the execution of the analysis is of the non-probabilistic type, it is made up of the 9 work packages (made up of the Entrance control booth, offices, accommodation, recreation room, laundry, kitchen, dining room, energy system, drinking and treated water) that are part of the camp project. The research is applied because the orientation of the research will be focused on analyzing, describing, and making use of the principles, tools and techniques of the PMBOK® 6th edition, in order to propose guidelines based on the areas of knowledge of risk, cost and schedule, obtaining both qualitative and quantitative real data, therefore it has a mixed approach. The scope is descriptive, since this research consists fundamentally in characterizing a specific phenomenon or situation, indicating its most peculiar or differentiating features to get to know the predominant situations through the exact description of the project baselines and processes. of cost, time and schedule management. It is also explanatory, since it is aimed at responding to the causes of events and phenomena that improve risk management, cost management and schedule management with the application of the PMBOK® 6th edition guide. In the investigation the experimental design was used, but it decisively belongs to the quasi-experimental ones. It is experimental because the independent variable (application of PMBOK® 6th edition) was used as an incentive to evaluate changes in the dependent variable (risk management, cost management and schedule management). Likewise, it is quasi-experimental since the sample is equal to the population. The results identified in the planning of the risk, cost and schedule knowledge areas prepared by the company China Railway N ° 10 Enginnering Group CO, TLD lack a methodology in project management. Therefore, it is concluded that according to the analysiscarried out on the project, the creation of a project office (PMO) can be established, which will have the objective of carrying out the project management plan for planning in the areas of the knowledge of risk, cost and schedule. Obtaining the identification of 4 potential risks, 15 moderate and 4 low risks assigning a contingency reserve of 110 thousand dollars, which is 0.6 of the initial CAPEX, it is also concluded that for cost management planning you will obtain the savings of 9 839 285,882 million dollars, which constitutes 48% of the initial CAPEX of the project. It is concluded that with the application of the PMBOK 6th edition Guide in the planning of the schedule management, an optimization was obtained in the established project deadlines, reducing the initial milestone of the project by 172 days.
