This research work consists of the superficial evaluation of the pavement of Sebastian Lorente Avenue, in the Urbanization Barrios Altos, Cercado de Lima District, and Lima; by means of the pavement condition index (PCI) method, in the year 2020. Therefore, the application of the standard Pavement Condition Index procedure will allow us to determine the degree of degradation or operational status of the pavement on this avenue. The problem generated by the development of this research was that both the road under study and the adjacent roads have not had an evaluation prior to being operated on based on this methodology, despite the importance of the road. In addition, in the last period the demand and overload on this avenue has increased. Therefore, in the following chapters we will present a framework of the generalities of the area under study, a theoretical framework with the definitions that are involved in the development of the research and with it the PCI methodology that is formally and widely considered a procedure standard for the evaluation and objective qualification of the pavement, having been published by ASTM D6433-03; and corroborated by the manual developed by the engineer Ricardo Vasquez. To carry it out, a work sequence was followed, being the following: First, the data collection of the pavement was carried out on the avenue of study, with the obtaining of values establishing the type and severity of each of the faults that the study unit; Then, the value of the PCI is found in each of the 27 Sample units that comprise along the 1025-meter road, thus obtaining the PCI value that is equivalent to 74, classifying it with an operating condition Very Good.
