The main objective of the present research was to design a maintenance management system for the Minestar fleet system to reduce costs in an open pit mining company. For this, specific objectives have been established, which were carried out with the current diagnosis of the area, design a preventive maintenance plan, develop maintenance procedures, apply EOQ - ROP and perform the economic analysis of maintenance management. The research was of an applicative level and a quasi-experimental design. The population consisted of all the equipment of the mine fleet and the sample was the 30 CAT-797F trucks and the 5 CAT-7495 shovels for which selection criteria were used because they are the equipment directly related to production. The diagnosis through the Ishikawa analysis determined that the main problem affecting the company is the high maintenance cost that amounts to an annual loss of S /. 1,598,015.20. The maintenance plan and hardware standards procedures consists of the elaboration of process flow diagrams, maintenance checklist, maintenance schedule, detail of maintenance activities, training plan and program, EOQ - ROP. With maintenance management, costs were reduced annually to S /. 639,206.08, which shows an annual benefit of S / 958,809.12 with a 60% reduction in operating costs for maintenance work. In addition, the study is viable since it has a NPV of S /. 696,133, an IRR of 65% and B / C of 2.41.
