Emotional Intelligence and Transformational Leadership are variables of continuous studies. Both are focused on improving the professional skills of teachers who have to work with students in a classroom at the university. The purpose of this research is to know the relationship between the perception of emotional intelligence and Transformational Leadership in teachers at university in Lima. The sample is composed by 167 teachers, between men and woman (73.1% and 26.9% respectively), between 30 – 58 years of a university at Lima. The design of this research is non-experimental transactional being of a correlational type, seeking to establish and analyze the relationship between the study variables. To identify the levels of Emotional Intelligence, a Peruvian adaptation of the "Trait Meta- Mood Scale-24 (TMMS-24)" questionnaire was used by Salovey, Mayer, Goldman, Turvey y Palfai; in a Peruvian adaptation made for the use of the present study; and a Peruvian adaptation of the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire – MLQ By Bass and Avolio, to identify the levels of Transformational Leadership, taking only the Sub-scale: Transformational Leadership. Finally, the results showed that there is a significant correlation between the two study variables, especially in the dimension of "People management" with "attention to one's feelings" and "clarity of feelings". It should also be noted that there is a significant correlation between "inspirational motivation" and "attention to one's own feelings". KEYWORDS: emotional intelligence, transformational leadership, teachers.
