ABSTRACT The following study determined the level of undermining produced by the El Niño phenomenon in the pillars and stirrups of the Libertad bridge; a quantitative correlational approach design was applied to find the relationship of the flow rate with the level of undercutting. Morphologically calculated: slope of 0.003m / m and average river width of 200m; hydrologically: Qm of 1235m3 / sec for a PT of 500 years; geotechnically: 47.25mm dm, 5 samples determined a GP and 1 SP sample; for the use of Hec-Ras and Hcanales a Ty of 2.3m. The methods used were LISCHTVAN-LEVEDIEV, K. F. ARTAMONOV and NEILL: 0.10m of general undercutting, 2.4m in stirrups and 3.14m in pillars. As a limitation it has been to obtain timely meteorological information from state entities, for example the General Directorate of Agriculture and Irrigation and the ANA. It is concluded that the bridge resists flow rates during the El Niño phenomenon because the effective width of the river was considered, and the undercut is less than the design (6m). It is recommended to make a greater number of calicatas to specify the type of soil in all the river bed.
