ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to evaluate the physical, chemical and bacteriological properties of the Jequetepeque river San Juan-Gallito Ciego stretch, in relation to the environmental quality standards (hereinafter ECA) category 3 for irrigation and animal consumption, and the NTP 339.088 "Water quality requirements for concrete", 2016. For the development of this investigation, samples of water were extracted from the Jequetepeque River from points located in the towns of San Juan, Choropampa, Magdalena, Chilete, Salitre, Pampa Larga and Tembladera. Then they were analyzed in the regional laboratory of Cajamarca, in its physical (color), chemical (wad cyanide, color, conductivity, biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, hydrogen potential, metals, mercury) and bacteriological properties (total coliforms, eggs and larvae of helminths). The data obtained were compared with the environmental quality standards, category 3 and NTP 339.088. The results showed that the water under study complies with the RCTs for the color variables, wad cyanide, conductivity, biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, hydrogen potential, metals, mercury, helminth eggs and larvae, but it does not comply for the variable of total coliforms in which they exceed the values established in the ECA category 3, in the stations of San Juan downstream with a value of 1600 NMP / 100mL, in Choropampa upstream 1600 NMP / 100mL, in Magdalena downstream 5400 NMP / 100mL, in Chilete downstream 92000 NMP / 100mL and in Tembladera 9000 NMP / 100mL. As for NTP 339.088, it fulfills the properties of sulphate and chloride; but it does not comply with the hydrogen potential property exceeding the established ranges.
