The study carried out in the city of Moyobamba, San Martin region in 2020, is descriptive, and its general objective is to determine the level of carbon sequestration of timber and non-timber forest species in the parks and gardens of the city of Moyobamba. The first step was to identify the main parks and gardens in the city and then proceed with the study to identify the abundance of flora, where, according to the results obtained, it was found that the ficus (Ficus benjamina) and the Hawaiian palm (Chrysalidocarpus lutenscens) are the most abundant species with 169 and 128 plants respectively; the level of carbon capture was also analysed according to each park-garden in the city, obtaining the following results: Plazuela Bolognesi 0.180 Tn/ha, Plazuela Libertad 0.152 Tn/ha, Plazuela San Martin 0.303, Mirador de Doñe 0.681 Tn/ha, Fonavi I 0.329, Plazuela el Mangual 0.600 Tn/ha, Plazuela Tiwinza 0.070 Tn/ha, Plaza de armas de Moyobamba 0.507 Tn/ha, Plazuela 02 de junio(Frente a la avenida Ignacia Velásquez) 0, 118, 02 de Junio (space located next to the sports ground) 0,273, Plazuela del sector Santa Clotilde 0,190 Tn/ha, Fonavi II (space located in front of Avenida Ignacia Velázquez) 1,264, Fonavi II (space located in front of the marginal road) 0,258 Tn/ha and Arborización de la Avenida Grau 3,123 Tn/ha; Finally, it is determined that the park-garden in the city of Moyobamba that registers a lower carbon capture is the Plazuela Amor y Paz, the space located in front of the EPS Moyobamba, which yields results of 0 Tn/ha, and the park-garden that registers the highest capture index in the city of Moyobamba is the arborization de la Av. Grau which yields a result of 3,123 Tn/ha.
