The present study aimed to relate the perception of quality of care and adherence to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) among people living with HIV/AIDS. The study was conducted in the infectious disease department of the health strategy "Prevention and Control of Sexually Transmitted Infections and HIV/AIDS" of the Hospital II - 2 Tarapoto MINSA, which has been treating a large number of PLWHA since the end of 2005. The type of research is quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional correlational. The sample consisted of 177 patients with HIV. The technique used was the survey and the instrument used was a checklist to identify adherence to treatment and the questionnaire to evaluate the PLWHA's perception of the quality of care. Results: There is no significant relationship between the perception of quality of care and adherence to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) among people living with the AIDS virus treated at Hospital II-2 Tarapoto MINSA, December 2017 -June 2018, (p > 0.05). The perception that HIV-infected persons receiving HAART have regarding the quality of care provided by the Multidisciplinary Team is medium in 67.8% with a tendency to high in 16.9%. The prevalence of adherence to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) among HIV-infected persons treated at Hospital II-2 Tarapoto is 32% and non-adherence is 67.8%. Conclusions: The Technical dimension of quality of care has no statistically significant relationship (p > 0.05). However, there is a significant relationship between the Human and Environment dimensions of quality of care and adherence to highly active antiretroviral treatment (HAART) in the study population, with a significance level of p < 0.05.
