Changes in the business world led organizations to look for new income sources that would allow them to develop their activities successfully and attain the desired profitability. On this basis, financial leverage is the effect that produces debt on a company's own capital, and profitability is the capacity that a company has to generate profits. Therefore, the investigation called "Financial leverage and its impact on the profitability of the commercial company Motors Show Tarapoto S.A.C., of the district of Tarapoto, period 2017", poses as main objective to determine how the financial leverage affects the profitability of the commercial company Motors Show Tarapoto S.A.C, of the district of Tarapoto, for the period 2017. The following hypothesis was proposed: Financial leverage has a negative impact on the profitability of the commercial company Motors Show Tarapoto S.A.C, in the district of Tarapoto, period 2017. The investigation was basic with non-experimental design, the sample was conformed by the financial statements of the commercial company Motors Show Tarapoto S.A.C., for the 2017 period. Conclusions: The company's leverage is high, since a financial dependence of 84% was obtained whereas the assets represent only 16%; in respect to profitability, the company reached a net profit of 2%, a net return index on sale of 0.96 and the ROE was 0.10. We can conclude that the financial leverage had a negative impact on the profitability of the company Motors Show Tarapoto S.A.C.
