The following investigation had as objective "To determine the relation of the sociocultural factors with the knowledge on the care of the term newborn in adolescent mothers attended in the II-2 Tarapoto, August - December 2017", descriptive quantitative study correlational, transversal, with prospective collection of data, population and sample consisted of 50 adolescent mothers with full-term newborns. The technique was the survey and the instrument the questionnaire. The results were: adolescent mothers with full-term newborns were characterized by: age between 17 to 19 years, secondary level, they are cohabiting, they are housewives, of Catholic religion, their mother tongue is Spanish and they come from an urban area. The sources of information were family members in 80.0%, followed by health personnel in 14.0% and radio, TV or internet 4.0%. The place of care was: 98% health services and 2.0% healer or midwife. The level of knowledge about term newborn care in adolescent mothers seen in Hospital II-2 Tarapoto was: 48.0% low level of knowledge. In conclusion: There is a significant relationship between sociocultural factors and the level of knowledge about newborn care, the chi2 nonparametric test with a level of significance p <0.05, place of origin and knowledge level of adolescent mothers (X2 = 15.012, p = 0.0050). The religion with a value of p <0.07 (X2 = 11,304, p = 0.0620).
