The present research seeks to analyze the perception of parents about the styles of family upbringing for the development of the social skills of their children, considering that, being first grade children, the interaction of children is mainly with the family. In this sense, it is parents who provide children, during daily interaction, with key tools to verbalize and act in a society. Considering this, in this study it analyzes the perception of parents about the styles of family upbringing for the development of their children's social skills, because the relationship between parents and children is determined based on them. To achieve the aforementioned objective, a qualitative and descriptive-level research was chosen. In the research, it became clear that the style most used by the families that participated in this study is democratic, which is evidenced in everyday interactions. However, when comparing children's social skills with theory, it is appreciated that they are related to democratic, authoritarian and overprotective parenting styles. Therefore, the main finding of the study is that in some cases parenting styles are oriented to the development of children's social skills, however, not in all of them, since personal factors intervene. Whereas, the personality characteristics of each child also influence the development of social skills, but to a lesser extent compared to parenting styles.
