The present research consists, on the whole, in a study of scientific policy made from a sociological perspective and, in particular, from a political sociology of science, in light of theoretical approaches such as the World Culture of John Meyer and the Theory of Field of Pierre Bourdieu. The specific problem addressed resides in the analysis of controversies arising in the press regarding the scientific policy adopted in Colombia, during the period from 1990 to 2017. The study aims to identify the innovation model of said policy and the sociological reasons that guide the frequent appearance of controversial reactions about it. To account over this purpose, the researcher have established some categories of analysis through the articulation of the aforementioned theoretical approaches and other more methodological approaches such as analysis of representations and scientific controversies, and based on this, a qualitative analysis of three empirical objects was carried out: the documents of this policy, the records of the debates that appeared in the press, and the records of interviews with members of the Colombian scientific community. The results show that the scientific policy in this country has been controversial for members of the social world of Colombian science and corroborate the existence of a discomfort in the social world of science in this country with respect to the innovation model focused on the productivist application of the science.
