The objective of this research is to explore social representations in mothers of children aged 1-5 years about iron deficiency anemia in a Shipibo-Konibo community resident in Lima. For this, a qualitative research was carried out that responds to the integration of the experiences, perspectives, opinions and behaviors of the mothers before the anemia, counting on a process of familiarization with the community and a guide of questions for the collection of information. The results show that mothers have information about anemia; however, it is partial. This is possibly due to the lack of knowledge about anemia in the jungle and the lack of efficiency of the information provided by the medical posts. Finally, a disease was found that could be confused with anemia, called pellagra, which resembles symptoms; but not in the causes and treatment. The results are discussed using the construct of social representations and content analysis about the vision of the health-disease process in relation to anemia and its socioeconomicenvironmental environment
