Background: Dentists focus on the definitive diagnosis and therefore use radiographs panoramic as the auxiliary method to examine and plan treatments. This type of evaluation is crucial to identify alterations and pathological processes. The panoramic technique, both conventional and digital, offers advantages such as low radiation exposure, speed, and wide anatomical coverage. It is especially useful in routine examinations of edentulous patients, detecting incidental findings such as root fragments, impacted teeth, radiolucent lesions, and anomalies of bone structures. Objective: To evaluate the panoramic radiographic findings of edentulous patients seeking total prosthesis at the Centro Dental Docente de la Facultad de Estomatología of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in the period 2022-2023. Material and methods: A descriptive, observational, retrospective, and cross-sectional study was carried out for which 240 digital panoramic radiographs of completely edentulous patients were collected, where only 144 were included in the study. These images were analyzed for incidental findings. Results: Of the 144 radiographs, a greater predominance was identified in the female sex, with the most frequent finding being the morphological alteration of the mandibular condyle with 77.08% (n=111). Conclusion: The prevalence of radiographic findings in edentulous patients is high; Therefore, it is important to know and identify the bone variations related to the absence of teeth for clinical decision making, with the intention of contributing to existing knowledge and providing information on the frequency of relevant incidental radiographic findings.
