Emotional dependence is shown as an inability to be a functional individual without the support of another person, believing that they will not be able to make decisions on their own, which would indicate that these individuals present affectation in their self-esteem to consider themselves incapable of performing their functions. In the present research an analysis was carried out to establish the relationship between the variables self-esteem and emotional dependence of university students of psychology, 2021. The research is given under a quantitative approach and correlational scope. The sample consisted of 206 students of 8th, 9th and 10th cycle, whose ages ranged from 19 to 34 years, between male and female sex. The instruments used for data collection were the Self-Esteem Inventory and the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Scale adult version, which were adapted to virtual surveys. An analysis based on Sperman's test was also considered to clarify the data obtained and to observe the correlation between both variables. It was concluded that the emotional dependence variable versus the self-esteem variable gives us an indirect and statistically significant correlation, which means that the more self-esteem the person has, the less emotional dependence he/she will have.
