The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between achievement motivation(AM), critical thinking(CT) and academic performance(AP) in education students at a private university in Lima. The study corresponds to the descriptive, transversal, basic type and correlational design level. A sample of 80 students was used, chosen through intentional and conventional non-probabilistic sampling. One instrument was used per variable the AM test, the CT scale and the report cards, respectively. Among the findings, it stands out that there is partial correlation between the study variables, AM, CT and AP. Furthermore, there is a directly proportional and significant relationship (rho=.359) (p< .01) between CT and AP, as well as there is a directly proportional and significant relationship (p< .01, and rho= .290). between AM and the recognition dimension of the assumptions of CT; and that there is an inversely proportional and significant relationship (p< .05, rho = - .258) between AM and the interpretations dimension of CT. Among the conclusions, it stands out that the general hypothesis was partially confirmed; since only a direct and significant relationship was found between CT and AP in students from a faculty of education at a private university in Lima.
