This research focuses on determining the relationship between the level of the linguistc and reading comprehension level of students in sixth grade by school type and gender. Also, as specific objectives are to determine the relationship between each of the linguistic (morphological, semantic, syntactic and pragmatic) to reading conprehension by type of institution and gender. The study was conducted in three types of educational institutions (public, parochial and private) in the district of Bellavista-Callao. The study sample consisted of 271 students (155 students, 116 students). Level research is non-experimental descriptive sunstantive, a correlational design. The instruments used were the CLP proof of Alliende Reading Comprehension, F., Condemarin, M. and Milicic. N. to measure the level of reading comprehension, adapted by Delgado et al. (2007) and the Language Battery BLOC Objective and Criterial Puyuelo Screening. M. et al.; adapted by Panca et al (2003) to assess the level of linguistic components. Research confirms the general hypothesis concerning the correlation between the overall level of the linguistic and reading comprehension level, by type of institution and gender. They fully confirm specific hypothesis concerning the correlation between reading comprehension and the morphologic, syntatic, semantic and pragmatic, as an educational institution. In terms of specific hypotheses, by gender, there is a positive correlation between the level of reading comprehension and level the morphologic and pragmatic, while not verified the correlation between the level of syntatic and semantic components to the level reading comprehension. Finally, we conclude that there is a correlation between the overall level of the linguistic and reading comprehension level, by type of institution and gender students in sixth grade.
