The main objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship of the ingestion of the hospital diet on the nutritional status of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes in the area of Medicine of a National Hospital in the Constitutional Province of Callao. The study was applied, transversal of correctional design; 37 elderly people with type 2 diabetes participated. The statistical analysis consisted of the data entry with the Microsoft Excel 2010 program, the SPSS program version 23 was used. As a result, it was found that there was a relationship between the intake of the hospital diet and the state of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes according to the Spearman correlation, giving a p = 0.026 lower than the 0.05 level of significance. It was found that 32.4% of the patients present an excessive level in their hospital diet according to the percentage of adequacy, in addition, 18.9% of these patients were between obese and overweight according to their nutritional status and 13.5% were within their normal weight and thinness; 35.1% of the total patients present a deficient level in energy, proteins and fats; also 8.1% were overweight, and 27% were within their normal weight and thinness. Finally, 32.4% of the patients present an adequate level in their hospital diet according to their percentage of adequacy and regarding the nutritional status, 5.4% he found with obesity and overweight, also, 27% was within their normal weight and thinness.
