The purpose of this study is to analyze the predictive capacity of academic self-efficacy and the perceived social support in coping with academic stress of the university students of Lima, Peru. The study is descriptive, explanatory, and substantive with correlational-causal design. _x000D_ The participants of this study were 506 university students (119 men and 387 women). The instruments used were: General Academic Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (Torre, 2006), Perceived Social Support Questionnaire (Rodríguez and Enrique, 2007) and The Coping Scale of Academic Stress Questionnaire (A-CEA) (González, Valle, Rodríguez, Piñeiro and Freire, 2010). The Spearman Correlation and linear regression were utilized to analyze the results and to prove the hypothesis. Likewise, compliance with the assumptions for multiple linear regression was evaluated. _x000D_ In conclusion, it is observed that academic self-efficacy and perceived social support predict 25% of the variance of coping with academic stress (r2 =, 25; p =, 000).The Simple Regression Analysis found that academic self-efficacy and perceived social support significantly predict coping with academic stress (B = .60; p = .000; B = .24; p = .000). _x000D_
