Introduction: At the hospital level, patients suffer changes in the metabolism associated with the disease itself and nutritional medical treatment the same demand. This situation may imply the inadequacy of the food intake and lead to a metabolic imbalance, which could be associated with weight loss and alteration of the nutritional status. Objective: To know the effect of supplementation on nutritional status in elderly patients with stroke who receive enteral nutrition therapy, hospitalized in the General Medicine Service of an Emergency Hospital of the City of Lima. Methodology: A quasi-experimental longitudinal cut study was carried out. The study population was the elderly patients with Stroke, who received enteral nutrition therapy; The sample consisted of 30 patients of both sexes who were selected in a non-probabilistic manner and for convenience, meeting the inclusion criteria. Results: At hospital admission, it was found that 3.3% had an adequate energy and protein intake. Regarding the nutritional status, 13.3% presented a normal nutritional status. At hospital discharge, 30% of patients achieved an adequate energy intake and 80% achieved an adequate protein intake. Likewise, 30% presented a normal nutritional status (p <0.05). Conclusion: Supplementation with polymeric formula improves the adequacy of energy and protein intake and in turn the nutritional status of elderly patients with nasogastric tube.
