This research aimed to determine the effect of a program based on positive psychology to reduce burnout in caregivers of elderly adults. The study adopted a quasiexperimental design with pre-test and post-test, including experimental and control groups. The sample consisted of 10 caregivers from a senior home in Lima, Peru, evenly divided between the groups. The Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) was used to measure burnout before and after the intervention, which consisted of 15 sessions based on the dimensions of the PERMA model (Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Achievement). Analyses showed a significant reduction in burnout levels in the experimental group. In the pre-test, the average general burnout score was 41.32, which decreased to 25.53 in the post-test. This change represented a statistically significant difference (t(4) = 4.64, p < .01), with a large effect size (g = 1.87). It is concluded that the positive psychology program was effective in significantly reducing burnout among caregivers of elderly adults. These results suggest that interventions focused on promoting positive aspects of well-being can be a valuable tool for improving the mental health and quality of life of caregivers, who play a crucial role in caring for the aging population.
