The purpose of this research was to describe the dependence of video games in students from single-parent and parental families in Lima. The sample consisted of 102 students from a private educational institution in Surco, between the ages of 10 and 12, in the sixth grade, of both sexes, of medium and high socioeconomic status. Research is descriptive, not experimental. The instrument used was the Video Game Addiction Test (adicTec-V) and a survey that was carried out to detect the type of family to which they belonged. Descriptive statistics were used using frequencies and percentages and percentage graphs. It was determined that single-parent families were at a medium level with respect to the dimensions of video games such as difficulty of control, abstinence, abuse and tolerance and at a high level in problems associated with video games and in the case of parental families, they were found that in all dimensions of video games they were at a low level.
