The aim of this study is to analyze the English-Spanish dubbing of the songs "We don’t talk about Bruno", "Under the surface" and “The Family Madrigal” from the American film “Encanto” regarding the relation between translation techniques and the pentathlon principle. The research has a qualitative approach with a case study design using self-designed analysis sheet; the generic corpus of the study was made up of 44 songs, from which the songs "We don’t talk about Bruno", "Under the surface" and “The family Madrigal” were selected to form the specific corpus. The study showed that the most applied translation techniques were modulation, discursive creation, and literal translation; and that the predominant pentathlon principle is singability, followed by rhythm, naturalness, sense, and lastly rhyme. Finally, it was concluded that any translation technique chosen will affect directly or indirectly all the principles, but the translator must decide which of them should be prioritized.
