This research aimed to diagnose the nutritional status and its relationship with the Healthy Eating Index (IAS) in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease who start hemodialysis at the National Hospital Alberto Sabogal Sologuren (HNASS) -Callao, 2017. The methodology corresponds to a correlational descriptive type study with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design where anthropometric indicators were used as well as clinical, biochemical and food intake parameters. The sample included 55 patients who had been dialyzed for less than a year in the Hemodialysis Unit and who met the inclusion criteria. The digital program Microsoft Excel version 2016 was used for data processing and the association of variables was estimated using the Chi-square with a confidence level of 95%. The results showed that 52.7% of the patients presented moderate malnutrition, followed by 40% mild malnutrition and 7.3% severe malnutrition. The IAS was rated as bad 67.3% and regular 32.7%. They also showed that the nutritional status is significantly related to the IAS (p = 0.048). It was concluded that the nutritional status and the IAS is proportionally related in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease who start hemodialysis in the HNASS.
