The present investigation was developed in the urbanization UPAO II Stage located in the city of Trujillo in the north of Peru, which has a land that constituted with soils of high amount of fine particles (clays and silt), historically it has been affected in indistinct periods of time with intense rains, caused by high rainfall associated with climate change in the city, as a contribution to the knowledge of soils with high content of Fine in the area, the present work is developed an experimental program aimed at assessing the influence on the volumetric behavior of soils with a high content of fines in the presence of an intensity of rainfall in the city, through relevant geotechnical tests such as of free expansion and potential for collapse developed by the soil before partial saturation caused by rainfall in its accumulation and when coming into direct contact with soil particles, achieving partial saturation of the soil and at the same time generating an anomalous behavior of its volumetric characteristics. Using the theory of partially saturated soils specifically the consequences that these cause in the volumetric behavior of the fine soil, which are the most prone to these changes. To determine the type of soil, its physical properties and the change thereof in the presence of saturation, a research point is used from which a loose sample will be extracted for laboratory evaluation. The results obtained allowed to classify the soil as a low percentage rate of expansion and moderately collapsible, allowing to establish that heavy rains in the city negatively influence the volumetric behavior of soils with high fines in the urb. UPAO II stage.
