The purpose of this research study was to evaluate the effectiveness of linguistic intelligence learner training program “LIKE” to improve fifth year secondary school students’ writing skills at “Colegio Nacional Iquitos”, San Juan Bautista district, 2015. It was an experimental study and quasi-experimental in design with experimental and control group. The study population was made up by 447 students and a non-probabilistic sample of 59 students. Class 5th B with 32 students was the experimental group and Class 5th G, with 27 students, the control group. A written test and rubrics, validated by experts (86% validity) with a reliability of 81% (Crombach Alpha) were used as the main data gathering tools, which were administered before implementing the program to see that both groups started at the same level of writing performance level. After implementing the program, the test was administered to both groups to evaluate the effectiveness of the learner training program. Post-test results show that the experimental group students outperformed the control group as their mean score was higher than the control group’s mean score (13.000 > 10.08), as well as in its indicators: content (14,63 > 11,15), organization (13,41 > 10,67), grammar and vocabulary (11,42 > 7,76), spelling and punctuation (12,52 > 10,54). Therefore, the research hypothesis was accepted in that the learner training program “LIKE” improved significantly the sample students’ writing skills in general (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05) as well as in its indicators.
