Objective: Establish whether the smokingenvironment influencesthe introduction ofsnuffconsumptionby schooladolescents fromIquitosin 2014. Methodology: Analytical study, transversal which was structured on a sample of 400 school adolescents from four flagship schools in the city of Iquitos, we performed the sampling in two stages; the first stage was simple random sampling, the second stage cluster sampling, was in proportional stratum, considered strata each school. Statistical analysis was developed with measures of central tendency; the association was measured by calculating the square Chi; and estimation the risk or prevalence by calculating the prevalence ratio. (PR). Results: There was a start frequency of consumption of snuff in 32.8% of respondents school adolescents, with a prevalence of 327.5 by 1000 school adolescents, exist smoking environment for adolescent students, with friends, colleagues and more often parents. The earlier onset age was 7 years old, with an average start of 12.1 years, male sex was more prevalent in a ratio of 2/1 on the female sex; regarding the association of smoking environment with starting snuff consumption by school adolescents in Iquitos, the presence of smoking parent increases 2.8 (: 2.8, CI RP 1.8 - 4.4) was demonstrated, most times the prevalence start consumption of snuff; the presence of maternal smoking increases 3.9 (OR: 3.9; CI: 1.6 - 9.4) more times the prevalence of first use of snuff, the presence of consumption of snuff in brother 2.9 (OR: 3.8; CI: 2.2 - 6.0) ; the friend 4.5 (OR: 4.5; CI: 2.9 - 7.1) and 3.8 partner (OR: 3.8; CI: 2.2 - 6.8), which consume snuff increases the prevalence of first use of snuff by school adolescents in Iquitos, it noted that teachers do not increase the risk prevalence start snuff consumption by school adolescents in Iquitos. Conclusions:A higher prevalence of older first use of snuff; plus males started snuff consumption earlier and more frequently, by a ratio of 2/1 females; the highest prevalence of onset of snuff was observed in adolescents second and fourth grade. Parents or householders of adolescents studied have low educational level. The presence of the consumption of snuff or smoking environment parents, siblings, friends and colleagues, increases the risk or prevalence of onset of snuff consumption by school adolescents in Iquitos. Teachers also behave like smoking environment; however not increase the prevalence of first use of snuff.
