The following study occurred in the Regional Conservation Area Ampiyacu Apayacu (ACR AA) and its buffer zone by registering hunting yields in 2016 and 2017, creating participatory maps and conducting semi structured interviews. The overall goal is to provide information regarding hunting pressure by indigenous communities pertaining to the Federación de Comunidades Nativas del Ampiyacu (FECONA), on local wildlife in the sustainable use zone and its buffer zone. The primary objectives were: identify wildlife species consumption, abundance, extracted biomass, strategies for hunting and hunting sites through a catch per unit effort (CPUE) analysis. The analysis was conducted with bioEstat 5.3 statistics software using a variance analysis to show the significance level of the results. We found the capture of 4,469 animals distributed between 58 species. The most abundant and easily hunted animals were: Cuniculus paca “paca”, Tayassu pecari “white lipped peccary”, Dasyprocta fuliginosa “agouti”, Pecari tajacu “collared peccary” y Dasypus novemcinctus “armadillo”. Nevertheless, the species which resulted in the majority of extracted biomass were: Tayassu pecari, Cuniculus paca, Pecari tajacu y Mazama americana. The average hunting pressure reported in the sustainable use zone was 3.361 ind/km2, while in the buffer zone it was 6.354 ind/km2.
