This study was carried out to determine the association between knowledge and attitudes about influenza A (H1N1) and practices of prevention of influenza A (H1N1) in adults in the districts of Punchana, !quitos, Belen and San John of the city oflquitos in 2009. The method was quantitative, nonexperimental descriptive correlational, the sample consisted of 384 adults of both sexes aged 20-65 years met the inclusion criteria was used as stratified sampling with allocation; instruments were: a questionnaire on knowledge of the influenza A (H1N1), Rating Scale of attitudes toward influenza A (H1N1) and the questionnaire on prevention of influenza A (H1N1), which is valid for 87.52%, 94.3% and 93% respectively and reliability 85. 9%, 92. O% and 91.7% Cronbach alpha of the three instruments. Data were analyzed using the SPSS (15.0) Windows Vista 2007, we used the nonparametric statistical test free distribution Chi-square (X2), and a <0.005. The best results were: 100% (384) of 77.6% were adults 20 to 42 years old, 70.1% were female, 59.9% had inadequate knowledge about influenza A (H1N1), 74.4% had an attitude of rejection of influenza A (H1N1), 62.5% had inadequate preventive measures to the influenza A (H1Nl ). In the bivariate analysis, the hypothesis was accepted by associating knowledge of influenza A (H1N1) and practices of prevention of influenza A (HlNl) P = 0.00021, attitudes and practices ofprevention ofinfluenza A (H1Nl) P = 0.00003.
