The aim of this correlational and cross-sectional study was to determine the correlation between dental caries in Los Honguitos’s preschoolers and the level of knowledge of mothers about oral health. Iquitos - Maynas 2014. The sample consisted of a total of 246 preschool children 3-5 years old and their mothers who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. An instrument of level of knowledge about oral health, was validated by the technical expert judgment and a pilot test was constructed. Reliability was evaluated by the statistical test of Kuder-Richardson (K20) from which we obtained a reliability of 0.75%. The results were: 14.6% of mothers with a level of knowledge in its children had an I-ceo very high. The prevalence of dental caries in children aged 3-5 years old of Los honguitos garden - Iquitos District - Maynas 2014, was 95.9%. Finding an average of 5,03 (high) I-ceo. The level of dental health knowledge of mothers of preschool children examined was moderate at 51.6% with an average score of 11.21. The results allowed us to conclude that there is significant relationship between the prevalence of dental caries in preschool and the level of knowledge of mothers about oral health (p = 0.01).
