With the vision that sociodemographic and economic factors influence household food insecurity, it is sought to study the relationship between sociodemographic - economic factors and food insecurity in homes of AA. HH Virgen de Loreto, Producers and Horticulturalists - Pacarán and December 5 of the Santo Tomás populated center. The type of study was non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational, the population consisted of 412 households and the sample was 199 determined by random sampling stratified by proportional affixation. The technique used was the survey and the instruments were the Sociodemographic-Economic Data Sheets and the Latin American and Caribbean Food Security Survey (ELCSA). The results obtained were interpreted through statistical tables and graphs, for the inferential analysis the Spearman correlation coefficient was used, with a reliability of 95% and an alpha equal to 0.05 in order to demonstrate the hypothesis. The results allowed to identify 60% of Moderate Food Insecurity and 32.3% of Serious Food Insecurity in the Human Settlement December 5 45.3% of Serious Food Insecurity and 34.73% of Moderate Food Insecurity in Human Settlement Producers and Horticulturalists - Pacarán. 52.8% of Moderate Food Insecurity and 38.9% of Serious Food Insecurity in the Virgen de Loreto Human Settlement. The three Human Settlements reported 0% food security. Six statistically significant correlations were established and these were the age of the head of household (p = 0.00183), degree of instruction of the head of household (p = 0.000127), occupation of the head of household (p = 0.028), age of the mother (p = 0.000175), monthly economic income (p = 0.0000) and be a beneficiary of some social program only for the AA.HH December 5 (p = 0.0444). Therefore, it is concluded that there is a statistically significant correlation between sociodemographic-economic factors and food insecurity.
